We also have a traveling carnival that sets up in the middle of the street next to the park. Strange place, I know but it works.
In the park people set up booths and sell everything and anything. One booth will fry anything from potatoes to candy bars and Twinkies. (yuck!) The potatoes were tasty though.
One thing I learned as we walked around all afternoon in 100+ degree weather is that if you want to feel normal- go to the county fair!

Looks like fun!! SOOOOO, did you eat a fried twinkie?? I've always wondered what they taste like!!
the girls look like they had fun on the rides--and the cotton candy shot, so cute.
Fried Oreos are good, and fried snickers, but well, they are just fried little heart attacks waiting to get ya! I love local fairs and festivals! Great post!
Gotta love fair food..... fried Oreos are yum yum and I've had the fried Twinkies and not too bad!
I have never had a fried twinkie, but have always wondered what they were like. This all looked like so much fun until... 100+???? youch.
Oh those county fairs are true treasures...I always feel like a freak, because I am 40, have no children and have come to the fair alone, plus I am photographing everthing...I'm the creepy old woman coveerd in cathair who's talking to herself in the fried twinkie line.
Looks like a blast and the food looks yummy!
Thanks for stopping by! I visited your cake site too, you do a fabulous job!
This post just makes me want to go to the Minnesota State Fair ASAP, for the food and the people!
One of my favorite things to do, and I never miss it, is go to my annual hometown carnival! I still sometimes see people I went to school with, some of them seem to be stuck in the seventies. I am happy to get some fried dough and find a spot to people watch!
