The mountains from my childhood
stand strong and unchanging.
The sharp smell of pine hangs in the air,
the cool, damp grass brushes past my shins.
The bite of cold is in the air.
The rich scent of fallen leaves and moist dust
rises from the ground.
The soothing, bubbling sound as the stream
flows gently below the small wooden planks.
In the distance the river winds its slow rippled path
down the rocky stream bed.
I breathe it all in deeply, for I know that I will not
come again until next spring when the trees
begin their life anew.
As I stand in this monument built by God
I realize that He is unchanging,
It is me that changes and bends with the wind.

The unchanging woods and stream combines nicely with the little child. By God's will, both beautiful! The child as he changes is inspired by the changeless beauty surrounding her. A wonderful take!
i love this shot.. the shot is priceless and sepia adds a dramatic touch on it :)

Lovely it reminds me of a childbook. Great photo!
It looks like a fleeting memory of childhood from the past when I see the picture.
Great Photo in sepia.
that shot of em turned out so great, did it blur like that when you took it?
Your words and the sepia make the whole post so nostalgic. I love the smell of the mountains, particularly in fall. It has a way of causing reflection.
lovely post.
Wonderful post. Children are such changlings---from sepia to true color. Great idea. MB
Lovely and ghostly, with the motion captured.
"sharp smell of pine" - rich!
the photo is as much poetry as your words
lovely
Just charming! I like that the picture is sharp and the little girl is blurry... :-)
my rose was originally pink, and yes it´s rather unusual to have such a warm winter... :-)
Beautiful picture and picture!!
I'd say you have lovely childhood memories. Your words are well written.
Very nice shot...and I like the memories that go with it.
Beautiful photo of a young child taking in the wonders of nature ~ is she yours?
